Digital Story Creating - there are many great tools available online that will allow children to create their own stories, which will allow them to practice sentence structure, spelling, word formation, and think about the elements of a story. Some of these resources worth trying are: ToonDoo (a tool that allows children to make their own cartoons); ZooBurst (a tool for making your own online pop-up books); and Storybird (a tool that allows students to create their own art-inspired story)

Blogging - Blogging can be a useful tool for children to work on their reading and writing skills in a different environment, rather than simply learning through reading books or writing in journals. Kidblog is a website that is safe for teachers and students to blog. Blogging will allow your students to works on skills such as spelling, word and sentence formation, telling stories (real or not), and commenting on their peers' work.

Health Education Resources:

BrainPOP Jr. - Harmful Substances in the grade three health curriculum the, sometimes tough, subject of harmful substances is introduced. This link provides you with videos and lesson plan ideas that will aid you in teaching your students about illegal drugs, medication, and smoking. This is a good resource to cover outcome USC3.3 in the grade three health education curriculum.

Mathematics Resources:

BrainPOP Jr. - Equal Groupings and Arrays these links take you to 2 videos that helps teach your students about equal groupings and arrays, which are strategies used for multiplication. The videos are accompanied by lesson plan ideas, activities, and other great tools to help your students further understand these concepts.

BrainPOP Jr. - Time the concept of time is introduced in grade three, and this link will take you to a very useful video to help introduce this concept to your students. There are many videos, lesson plan ideas, activities, and other great tools to help your students further dive into the idea of time. This link will be useful when covering Outcome SS3.1 in the grade three mathematics curriculum.

BrainPOP Jr. - Measurement this link takes you to the measurement main page, which will allow to you choose the grams and kilograms category or the inches and feet category - both relevant to covering the Shape and Space outcomes. You may also find other useful subcategories that you may find beneficial if you would like to review any concepts before moving on to something new.

BrainPOP Jr. - 2-D and 3-D Objects: these two links will take you to resources that help explain 2-D and 3-D objects. Both links include videos, lesson plan ideas, and other great tools to help make learning these concepts fun for your students. These links fit into the Shape and Space Outcomes.

BrainPOP Jr. - Fractions this link will help you introduce the concept of fractions to your grade three classroom. This link takes you to the main fraction page, which then allows you to choose from four subcategories, each focusing on an individual aspect of teaching fractions. Each subcategory has its own video, lesson plan ideas, and activities. This link will help you cover Outcome N3.4 in the grade three mathematics curriculum.

BrainPOP Jr. - Forces this link will take you to the forces main page, where you will be able to choose from categories such as magnets and pushes and pulls - both of these categories will help you meet the requirements of the outcomes and indicators in the physical science area of the grade three science curriculum.

Magnets - Magnets is an online game all about, you guessed it, magnets! This game challenges students to put magnets together (using the N and S poles) and the object of the game is to connect three or more of the same colour together to get rid of that string. Fun and challenging!

BrainPOP Jr. - Soil the Earth and Space Science area for the grade three science curriculum is all about soil. This resource will provide you with a video full of facts and information about soil, as well as background information for you to read, lesson plans, games and activities to use in your classroom after the video is shown.

Social Studies Resources:

BrainPOP Jr. - Communities this link is full of great resources to help you teach your students about the many different aspects of communities, including a video, background information, activities, and many other fun and educational tools your students will enjoy.

Maps - In the grade three Social Studies curriculum students are asked to look at and examine maps. Wayfaring is a website that allows students to create their own maps, share their maps with others, and explore maps created by others.

PBS Teachers - this website covers almost all of the above teaching areas. This link has multiple pages full of various teaching resources, including videos, online interactive activities, as well as lesson plans. There are so many activities I could not pick one, so feel free to browse to find activities that best suite your classroom.


Jeopardy Review Game - if you are lucky enough to have a SmartBoard in your classroom, this link will provide you with a Jeopardy game generator. This game generator will help you create your very own Jeopardy style game to use as a review tool in your classroom.

Studyladder - I put this resource under other because it covers all of the subjects listed above. You do have to sign up for this website, but once you have a profile it allows you to search by subject area and then you can pick your grade. You also have the option to search for the type of resource you want from a large selection, including; assessment, challenges, interactive activities, interactive play, videos, and many more.

Gamequarium -this website is another great website that looks at each of the subjects listed above. On this website you will find videos, games, and activities for each subject area, and all of these are divided by grade which makes it easier to find what you are looking for.
